Class Discussions

I think it is so important to engage in an in-depth discussion with the students about the concepts under study. Without this the students will only learn the superficial aspects of a concept and not know the significance and application of it in real life. For example, let’s take a simple grammar concept of noun. Instead of teaching your students what nouns are and how to spot nouns in a given sentence or a paragraph, ask them questions like, ‘What would happen if there were no nouns’ (how would you refer to things), and ‘Where do you see nouns being used’. You will instantly see how the class is so much more interested in the drab topic of noun now. You will see that your students are THINKING and WONDERING about things.
